PROVOKED - Honestly, one of the best directed movies in recent times. Do you think movies based on social or women issues directed by bollywood directors are boring, Well, think again! Coz, Provoked can prove all that to be absolutely wrong. From the very beginning, which starts off with the quintessential incident of the movie - the murder, the movie keeps you hooked onto the screens till it ends. The entire screenplay is depicted in such a way that its sensibly natural to believe that its a true story. A story of a punjabi lady Kiranjit Ahluwalia, who was married to an NRI in Britain. Believe it or not, this life-story has actually modified one of the laws in the British Law Books. Aishwarya Rai has undoubtedly given her best to prove her core acting talents with Nandita Das too in the limelite as a supporting actress.
The crucial incidents or rather scenes like the murder, the lady pushed down the stairs, sexually abused by her husband, etc, are wonderfully shot to embed them in the audience's minds for long. A.R.Rehman has given fine background score at sharp points where it is needed. Provoked can be compared to a lot of married couples' lives today and can be quite influential to the women of today! The story is actually a transformation of the lady from an innocent person to a bold lady who can face the world without getting embarassed of her past actions. It makes me wana read the novel written by Kiranjit herself on which the movie is based. An apt ending with a crisp message makes everybody appreciate the work of Mr. Jag Mundhra, the man behind making PROVOKED. A must watch movie for women (and men as well). Ash is sure to grab a National Award for her performance.

Primeval not instinctive as expected!
Primeval belongs to those kinds of movies which can trick the masses with its huge impressive marketing and publicity gimmicks. This was one of those movies which made me book the tickets right away the day the counters had opened the reservations. But, in the end, it all had to go in vain. The movie actually SUCKS. The screenplay is so bad that you would rather end up talking your life's primeval stories to the person beside you at the cinema hall... lol. From the very beginning, the movie has an eery silence which doesnt scare you even a point percent. The script has given importance to civil wars and other social problems in Africa, rather than focusing the movie on the monster reptile. Oh yeah people, its supposed to be a monster. We wait for 30 minutes to actually see the monster eagerly, expecting it to be one of those amazing works like godzilla. But when it pops up on the silver screen, it makes you go wild and regret for the money that you paid for the elite class at Inox. And yeah, never make a mistake of watching the movie right after a good dinner on a saturday night, which is exactly what i did and landed up feeling to puke...lol! The movie is filled with slimy and disturbing scenes of killings. To sum it all up, the ending makes things worse. The only thing that's to be appreciated in the movie is that it has good humour for about 20% of the movie, which can really tickle your laughing nerves.
Kabir's review team rates the movie - Primeval 2/5.
Until next time, Chow!

"CREATIVE-BUSINESS" IS THE WORD
Hello People, itz been really long since i posted my last blog. Was a lil hooked up with other more important things in life. [P.S. i am neither an anti-blogger nor a blogging critic... lol]. Enough of re-introductions now, lets get down to business, lets get down to blogging!
It all dates back to the era when the stone-age man ruled these lands. BUSINESS is something that dates back to those days. "YOU give me meat that you hunted for food and I give you the leaves I collected for shelter". Thatz just an informal business deal between two men wearing leafy-briefs for clothing! It has been in man's blood from the time he was gifted to mother earth. Business has since then come a long way with man's creativity. To conceive is human, and to conceive and deploy is a BUSINESS-MAN. Innovations, creativity, Dreams, Desires and Motivations all end up landing into a common domain named BUSINESS. Lemme, just cut this history crap of what i'm trying to talk about.
Businesses these days have come to a point where even the slightest of an idea by an insomniac turns into millions of bucks! I was stunned reading an article today in the business section at CNN.com named "A PIZZA PIE for $1000". This particular pizza had nothing special in it. Its just a normal American Pizza topped with Caviars and Lobsters but with a tag of $1000. And Guess what? It sold out! Name it a PUBLICITY GIMMICK or a mere BUSINESS STRATEGY to earn some real plentiful quick buck. This looks like a scene in one of those national geographic animal documentaries... THE HUNTER - owner of the pizza restaurant; THE PREY - the cutomers who poured in dollars to taste a slice of something not worth more than a couple of dollars![P.S. Each of the eight slices was sold to different customers for $125 each] The bottom line here is YOU HAVE AN IDEA TO IMPRESS PEOPLE? GO AHEAD N EXPERIMENT, U WILL NEVER KNOW WHEN IT ROCKS.
Creative Business...hmmmm! I appreciate this lady who owns that Pizza Restaurant. It was such a simple idea. Not only did she earn those thousand bucks for a 5$ product, but she has earned herself n her restaurant a recognition which will pull in more and more crowd as an immediate effect. So all you business minded "GURU BHAIs" in town, galvanize your creative business ideas and make them shine to the calibre of reflection you desire! Put on your thinking caps n roll out your business ideas... Peace Out! Happy Thinking, Happy Earning!

Eid-Ul-Fitr - the day of joy (& sadness)
Eid - the day much awaited by all the muslims in the world to spend some classic happy moments with their families, relatives and freinds; the day that brings light in the homes who live on the edge of poverty; the day which relieves all those suffering from life-battling diseases for one full day; the day when the dining tables of the luxury-filled-humans glitter away with brand new cuttlery and delicious smells; not to forget, the day where every muslim on this earth bows down to ask for forgiveness n pray for all the good things in life;... It's a strange day, though filled with lots of joy and happiness around, you would feel like there is something missing in your life. It was Eid yesterday, and i could sense this eerie emptiness in my mind after i was done with my prayers. I was wondering if it was the same with everybody, coz everyone on the streets and around were smiling and enjoying their own ways... You get to meet all your relatives at prayers and at home, home gets filled with cousins now and then, and you get to meet all those people whom you haven't met for years together. But, your desire of wanting something or meeting somebody who would lead you to eternal bliss, fills your soul to sadness. Yesterday(Eid day), i realized that i was not alone in this journey of desires. There were others to accompany me, people who had the same kinda emptiness filling their hearts and souls. Thanx to one of my special friends who shared her gloom, which coincidentally even i was going through. I have never figured out yet, that one thing on the spotlight, which would satisfy all my wants and never make me come back to sadness again. This happens each year for a few moments on Eid. It all happens on the festive day for the fact that everyone around you seems to be fulfilled with all their wishes or atleast have all that a happy man needs to have and thats when you realize that you have something missing for sure. Well thats the irony of life... You tend to be very happy on a normal day when it doesnt really matter if your happy; You tend to become Sad on a festive day when ur happiness does matter; An Eid passed by, and another one is anticipated next year too... Neither do the traditions change nor do the minds of people. "Eidy" is another thing that adds sparkle on an Eid. It's a gift given by elders to kids on Eid, mostly in the form of money, that definitely makes both the sides happy. And the good thing about this Eid with me was that i received some of the best "Eidy"s ever. And not to forget the feasts of Ramzan, delicious smelling dishes, tasty sweets with vermicelli...Well as i said TRADITIONS NEVER CHANGE, and that is wot keeps the wheels of this world moving on... Anyways, it was one of the best Eids i had yesterday inspite of the gloomy moments for a while compared to the more dominating happy moments. May the Almighty bless every one with all the happiness in life and keep all their worries away! Peace Out!

DJ.. a Dude in Jeopardy?
Walk in to the lounge bars, pubs n discs and whoz the first person u try to spot in there? A dude with the limelite focussed on him, and everyone staring and reading out the funky flash line printed on his tee across his chest, noticing his cap placed weirdly on his headphones-loaded-head... Yeah, im talkin abt the people who spin the shit in their own personal "ishtyle".(No controversies plz, im referring to the turn tables spinning)!!! I'm writing this article out of joblessness first, and secondly coz i bumped into an old buddy last nite at a marriage party who is a DJ. This particular tag "the DJ", woah wot feelings! It can take u places where even people like Anil Ambani would hate spending...lol. Lemme come back, yeah DJz, this chap whom i met after a long time is a totally tranformed dude. A couple of years back before he actually became a DJ, he was a normal-next-door kind of a guy and now suddenly he is this social gentleman who knows wot attitude is and wot social behaviour is. This profession seemingly teaches u to behave amongst socialite creams and page3 party-ites and celebrities. And before u think it is quite easy to be or become a DJ, read on and u'll freak out.
DJ Nasha (India) at the Skyscape Millenium Dome - 24th September 2000
Playing music is all we think DJz do, they have something much more than just that to do. Mix tracks within fractions of milliseconds, keep a Loop of music piece ready to subsitute in places of a bad music track, Keep an alternate tracked on a Cue to start it over when the current track finishes and lots more techniques of that sort. It isnt just that easy to keep thinking every 10 seconds as to what to try with the on-going beats or what not to try rather. And thats the reason why these DJz dont give a damn to people who get to their boxes often requesting for tracks coz if they miss out on the track that they're concentrating on, they're ready to set their asses on fire. A smart tip: Never approach a DJ when a fast-paced complicated track is on but rather converse with him when a simple dull song is let off on the player to give the audience a break. This is all about how hard it gets to handle this profession. Now i know that u wont be an accomplice to help urself becoming a DJ.
But there r these goody sides of this job. Right from meeting and being close with the page3 celebrities and the big shots of the corporate world, u get to know wot life really is from a happy-go-lucky eye's view. U also get the highest respect and dignity amongst all the people at a party, and people forcefully try to hook up a talk with u to get noticed. And besides all this, u also get the latest in music from various sources who r ready to give u music be it a legal track or an illegal piece of shit. Who really cares as long as it grooves ur audience to the beats?... Yeah, thatz the whole psychology of a DJ -> MY AUDIENCE SHOULD ENCORE FOR MORE! ... Thats it for now abt DJz' lives, after all i've got my own life that spins its own shit.. Guess this article totally took me over all those filthy words of english. Lemme stop actin like a DJ n get back to Kabir... lmao!

"FANAA" needs PANAH (protection, refuge) !!!
"Tere dil mein meri saanson ko panah mil jaaye, Tere ishq mein meri jaan Fanaa ho jaaye!"... Looks like a line of making or breaking a relationship in a love affair. It can really build up a relationship coz its damn too emotionally striking. On the contrary, it can break a relationship by the fact that it sounds totally out of the box, i.e. way beyond a romantic shayari. LMAO! And thatz the line that revolves around all through the movie of a different kind directed by a not-so-successful director Kunal Kohli...
The movie kicks off with a humorous and fun-filled beginning. The intro scene of the hero Aamir makes u feel that this movie's gona keep u glued to the seats till the end with its feel good factor. The boat keeps sailin in the first half with romantic and funny shayaris well written and well spoken by Aamir. The cliched part of falling in love and all the love songs execute themsleves in the first half of the movie, that doesnt make u bored at all. The game begins testing ur patience level after the intermission. The director has placed all the songs before the interval that there was nothing left in the second half except for a single song later on. The movie drags, sans shayaris, sans humour - that is all the last 1 hour of the movie is all about. It takes on a total turn towards the on-goings of the indian army and terrorism in kashmir. That was something u wudnt have expected while watching the first half. There are a few scenes with in-built flaws, a trademark of indian movies. Can u believe, the hero is stabbed with a knife right in the middle of his body and he manages to walk all the way in snowy kashmir lands to look out for help! Arey, it happens only in bollywood...
Inspite of the dragging later half of the movie, the direction and script is worth a mention. Some of the shots have been taken with splendid backgrounds and sets. The background score pulls u totally into the movie, well matched with the situations running on screen. I have nothing to talk abt the songs, coz they've already taken the nation's music freaks by storm n giving other music directors a run for their money! These r some of the good notes about the movie...
Anyways, the movie is worth watching and "a paisa wasool" inspite of some of the flaws it has. And if u r in love, this is a must-watch for u. So all u romeo-juliets in town, hit it! I personally rank the movie 6.5 on 10, Subhanallah...
Until a new gud movie hits the screens, this is Kabir's review team signing off... Chow!

The Monster Of the Rings! ..(..)..
Has ur mind ever pondered to think how they make those scary or fun-filled animated movies, with characters full of life? Or have u taken some time to think about those designers working at Pixar Animation Studios trying to conceive an animated creature for their movies? If not, im sure this blog will definitely make u think abt em. And if u already know wots in there, read it anyways for some fresh works by a person whoz my good buddy!
Yeah, it all originates from the strokes of a brush in an artist's hand or from the mouse strokes of a graphic designer... For all the challenges faced from converting a paperwork to a computer generated image to making it come to life, the graphic designing softwares come handy! Open up a blank page and start moving the optics of ur mouse, select those colors from a palette of over a billion colors, give the image ur finishing lines n shades and there u have it... A seemingly living image of the creature thatz been hitting ur mind ever since u started working on it. I've been a painter myself a couple of years ago until studies took me over it, and i have a fair knowldege of how an artist's mind works when he/she is working on the work. Its not about correcting those small mistakes in the picture nor about getting worried if some color spills over the desired region, all that a painter needs is a vintage looking image that has its own class of style and a sense of uniqueness that reflects his mind. And the graphic designers working on the computer with their softwares are no different in this front. The following picture proves it all... Take a good look at it first...
That scary scarred-face monster named "THE WARCRAFT ORC" is one such masterpiece created by Divya, a final year Visual Communications student. I have known her since the school days and this is not something that we cannot expect from her. All her works of art have deserved appreciations and THE WARCRAFT ORC is the best that i've seen among all of em. I bet, i would not have had the patience to sit in front of a glaring monitor to design an image, after all... Kudos to her! I named it THE MONSTER OF THE RINGS... lol... Itz the monster's nose ring that first caught my attention. Haha! And those deep-red eyes would definitely give u a feel of wot hell is like. Every pixel of work thats gone in is truly to be admired... And believe it, its all done with just Adobe Photoshop. All that I know to do with this piece of software is to edit pictures n give it some crazy effects...lol! No more descriptions, see it urself n spend some time thinking about it! And the best part of it all is that it creates an illusion of a real monster trying to tear ur screen apart n pop out... Lol, that'd be the worst nightmare! Enuf of this ORC.. I bet, u wud have had some idea about wot a graphic designer works on... As i said, it all begins with a drawing. Thanx Divya for letting me put this one on my blog, though its supposed to be copyrighted. And all the graphic designing fanatics, check out her site where shez posted her other works... Brad Pitt's is another of her must-see creation... The link is saggihead... Atleast, i did not procrastinate on writing this blog, which i normally do. Keep those brush strokes moving on painters, and the mouse scrolls rolling on designers... Peace Out!

DOOM - the movie
It was a boring friday and a public holiday, i was literally doomed with boredom and was pondering over what to do. Logged on to a cineplex's website and decided to bump into a movie and the only availability was DOOM for the evening show. I am not much of an action-movie freak nor a gaming fanatic, but just thought to give it a try coz i've played the game once. Moreover, the movie was released the same day, so it was a first-day-first-show kinda thing and i never miss such opportunities. Its a vintage feeling to watch movies on the first day of release!!
The movie started with some chill scary scenes, which rocked the seats of the cinema hall coz it had RDX digital stuff, n i guessed it right... Yeah, itz gona be one heck of a movie to watch it alone, Lol. Its about a special team named "Rapid Response Tactical Squad" or the "double R TS" as the actor in the movie ROCK calls it. Their mission and only goal is to protect planet Earth from any kind of extra-terrestrial or harmful things. This time around, they are directed to a genetic testing lab where some strange spooky things have been happening. And so the movie begins with the soldiers of RRTS all geared up with their rock-solid outfits and headed straight to the genetics lab where they meet the data security officer Samantha.Man she was so damn sexy and one of the soldiers of RRTS literally started falling for her, these r the few things which really cracked up the humorous sense of the movie. This lady helps the team out in everything that they do and is ubiquitous throughout the movie.
The movie is fantastically carved out from the computer game with a good sense of direction and screenplay. The monsters and scary creatures which the team had to face were all engineered with great care, thanx to the animation and extra effects experts. There are loadz of scenes to scare ur asses off the seats with the cliched scenes of "sudden scream after a silence" types. And the director also pepped up the game lovers with the climax scene shot in the game's view, i.e from a solider's eye view where u could only see the gun moving. That was a good teaser by the makers, complemented with rock music background score.
Besides all this, u really learn what a soldier's life is really like... Infact one of the soldier was killed by the Sergent in the movie just coz he didnt obey him. Be Loyal Or Be Dead, thats the punch line. Thank goodness, we aint soldiers of such an extraordinary team.
For people who havent played the game, go watch the movie and u'll know wot the game is all about... And for all those who have played the game, u'll love watching the movie with real-life soldiers and out-of-the-box monsters. Peace out... DOOM...!!

CEO Wannabes...!
A man who knows the dents n bumps of his firm. A czar who can handle any kinda at-the-time emergency decision. A nomad who knows the outlay of the roads where his firm is heading to. A homosapien whose attitude n personality traits can fetch an overwhelming appreciation.Everybody whose crossed the life of a college playkid and whose into the workforce wants to be him. He has beaten the priority of many Gods worshipped. Yeah, im talkin about a CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER. Thats the word doing rounds in all the management institutes worldwide. But what is that hez got that nobody else in a firm's got? Y does everyone dream of being him someday? Y does everybody follow his vaguely left-behind intelligent milestones to reach him? Y has he become the destiny of many who dont even know what it needs to be a CEO? These questions cannot be answered straight-to-the-point.
I was reading a column on the "top young executives of india" in Business Today a couple of weeks back and was impressed with the way each of them had built their own statues of fortune and fame. The experience and intelligence that they had acquired at such young ages of 35, some of them even at 27. One particular CEO named Prashant Pandey of RADIO MIRCHI had so much in his credits at an age of 40. Having been worked @ Citibank, Pepsi, HLL and now Radio Mirchi, is he actually looking for anything more in his gifted life? Man, dont these big-men have the words of 'fatigue','exhaustiveness','tiredness','boredom' etc in their books of work. Being a CEO of Pepsi and then Radio Mirchi, which are two different worlds of vocation, just imagine how differently this man should have planned his strategies to get his brand reach the audiences. Its not simply out of formality that they are named BRAND BUILDERS.
Be it knowing the current stock updates on Dalal Street or Wall Street, they know em all. Its NIFTY and NASDAQ and SENSEX thats buzzing their heads all the time. No wonder that the SENSEX is rising at such adrenalin rush, thanx to these CEOs of intelligentsia. Yeah, smart marketing and tricky strategies is all they can master at. But personally, they lose their charms of humour and fun, though with exceptions. Their eyes dont speak out, its only their mouths and brains that spell out the magic. I dont wana make it a critical writing, lol. Everybody in the world have their own pullouts. Be it a dinner at a luxury hotel almost everyday, meeting up with foreign buyers and investors and social creams, or having luxury comforts of an Arab Baadshah, they have em all. But there are somethings missing in everybody's life and thats the irony of life on earth. Nobody can help on it!
Anyways, im a lil exhausted now, and got lots of work to do (atleast not as much as a CEOs work..lol)... Hats off to all the CEOs who never get tired of working. So, being a CEO is not just getting an MBA from the IIMs or the GLIMs of the world, there is something much more than that u need. So all u wannabe CEOs, start hunting for those mummified traits and someday u might be one too. And for all the CEOs in the world, U truly rule and rock the forces of work. PEACE OUT!
